My wife tore up our air conditioning system when she was trying to fix it herself

My wife always wants to try and fix everything in our house herself.

  • I’m constantly telling her that she’s not a professional appliance repairman nor a certified HVAC technician, but she doesn’t care.

Fixing your air conditioning yourself might seem like a good idea at first, but doing a proper A/C repair job requires expert knowledge of air conditioning systems. Experimenting with your A/C unit to try and fix it yourself is never a great idea, since usually it will end up costing you more in repair costs in the long run. I tried to explain all of this to my wife, but she is super stubborn when it comes to things like this. I told her that our A/C has a warranty that becomes void if anyone messes around with it. The warranty only works if you have your A/C repair service done by a certified HVAC technician. Not only that, but it’s dangerous to mess around with HVAC systems if you don’t know what you’re doing. And honestly, my wife doesn’t know beans about electrical things. Since most A/C systems run on 220 volts of electricity, that can be very dangerous. That much electricity can easily kill you, and so I told my wife that I don’t want her messing around with it. Of course, she never listens to me and so she ended up tearing our A/C up completely. She wasted a lot of time and effort, plus she endangered herself and our house just because she wanted to save money on HVAC repair bills.
