I have been an employee with the same commercial Heating & A/C upgrade dealer for close to 10 years.
I actually stayed with the dealer for so long because the benefits & paid time off were great.
When I was hired 10 years ago, I had a week of paid trips & 10 personal days to use. After many years, I had two weeks of paid trips. This past year I passed that 10-year mark & now I have three weeks of paid trips & 10 personal days. Regrettably, the new personal day policy will make it more difficult to use my personal days. The new policy essentially states that all personal days must be scheduled a few days in advance. We used to be able to wake up in the day & take a personal day. If I was feeling particularly overwhelmed or severely stressed out, I could take a personal day. If I was honestly feeling sick to my stomach or had a sore throat, I could take a personal day. The best thing of all about the personal days was being able to take them anytime you needed or preferred. Now all of that is completely changing since the new manager wants things to be different. The guy has been changing a bunch of our rules & regulations. Now we basically have to request a personal day the week before & the day must be approved by management. If the manager expects that every one of us will be too busy, he can deny the request. I’m extremely unhappy with the new rules & I think it might be time to start looking for a new Heating & A/C machine upgrade & repair task.
