Beating the Heat after Gardening

Since my A/C system treats me so well, I feel like it’s only fair to treat it well, too

After retiring from the public school system, I took up gardening. I retired about ten years ago, and have been gardening for just as long. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I really took my gardening to the next level. I built container gardens, and planted a variety of produce. It was hard work! I was spending more time in my garden than ever. While I’ve always appreciated the cool and dry inside air after a gardening session, container gardening has reminded me how grateful I am for my A/C system. She works hard! Without the dependable blast of cool air from the vents, I don’t know if I could spend as much time in the garden as I do. The HVAC system also gives me a respite from my seasonal allergies; despite loving to spend time in the garden, I definitely need a break from the pollen at the end of the day. Using a HEPA air filter has really made a difference, too! They do a spectacular job of purifying the air in my home. I’ve also put a lot of thought into upgrading my air conditioning system; while my cooling equipment works great, it’s a little dated, and I’d like to consult with an HVAC technician about altering my system to achieve optimum functionality and efficiency. I’ve also heard rave reviews about those smart thermostats. Since my A/C system treats me so well, I feel like it’s only fair to treat it well, too. Since it can’t exactly enjoy the fruits of my container gardening labor, I do my best to keep it well-maintained (I have an HVAC technician out at least twice a year for routine maintenance), and I’m definitely thinking she deserves an upgrade. Maybe I can pay my technician with fruits from my garden!
